Make a call and write up what was said

You call a business, office, or institution, ask a specific set of questions, and send back a short written summary of the answers. No script reading and no sales calls.

What you might be asked to do

  • Call a clinic to confirm what a service actually costs
  • Ask a council office which form applies to a situation
  • Confirm a supplier stocks an item and can hold it

What you need

  • A quiet place to call from and a clear phone line
  • Comfort speaking to strangers and asking follow-up questions
  • Writing a clear summary of what you were told

The jobs, and what they pay

These are the exact jobs people can book today. The price is fixed before anyone accepts, and so is the deadline.

Phone call to a business or institution — written summary

$60 · finish within 2 days

What the job asks for

  • One phone call, with up to two redials if the line is engaged
  • Up to five specific questions you supply in advance
  • A written summary of the answers, attributed to whoever gave them
  • The name and role of the person spoken to, where they give it

Never part of the job

  • Negotiating, purchasing, cancelling, or committing you to anything
  • Impersonating you or claiming to act as your representative
  • Calls to individuals rather than businesses or institutions
  • Recording the call

How you get paid

Per job, at a rate we agree with you before your first one. The money is already paid and held before the job reaches you, so there is nobody to chase afterwards.

There is no automatic payment system yet — we pay you directly. That is one of the things that will change as this grows, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

If a job is not right

Say so and it is cancelled with a reason. Whoever booked it gets their money back in full. Turning down work you should not take costs you nothing here, and it is better than doing it badly.
